During the shift to online education amid Covid at a North Carolina elementary school, we gained an increased awareness of social, economic, and cultural barriers hindering children's intellectual and moral progress. Over the past three years, efforts have been made to address these issues by pairing each student on Mrs. Brannan-Patel's caseload with a community volunteer during evening virtual tutoring. To gain further insights, plans are in place to collaborate with parents from Mexico and Central America in the US, alongside educators and community members. The collective goal is to explore innovative approaches that empower all children to contribute to the development of their own communities.
